3 Fantasy Football Tight End Streaming Options for Week 14

The story of the tight end position is a tale similar to every sports offseason. There's annual optimism in advance of the season. Yet, optimism turns into reality without fail, and every team isn't playing for a championship. Or, in the case of tight ends, the many mid- and late-round breakout candidates fail to materialize into weekly contributors.

Some gamers understand this reality and pounce on an early-round stud. Others recognize it and intend on streaming out of the chute. Still, others arrive in the streaming group unwittingly after their middle-tier or late-round dart throw flops.

Regardless of how you got here, this is your weekly home for streaming options. Below you'll find three widely available options for Week 14.

Tyler Conklin, Minnesota Vikings

Yahoo! Roster Percentage: 30%

Tyler Conklin continues to deliver as a low-end starting tight end more weeks than not, including last week. In Week 13, he was targeted 9 times, securing 7 receptions for 56 scoreless yards. In addition, according to Pro Football Focus, he was inside the top 10 for routes (36) in Week 13.

Further, he's a mainstay in the top 10 at the position for routes. This year, he's 10th in routes (334). In addition, since Week 10, he's in the top 10. So, no matter how you slice the season, he's inside the top 10 for routes among tight ends.

The fourth-year pro has converted his regular route-running usage into 3.9 receptions and 39.1 receiving yards per game, and three touchdowns, per Pro Football Reference. Conklin has also mainly been consistent, catching multiple passes every game and posting 25 receiving yards or more or a touchdown in 11 of 12 games. So, even at his worst, he's giving fantasy gamers something.

Finally, he might see an uptick in usage for the Minnesota Vikings on a short week with Adam Thielen reportedly dealing with a high-ankle sprain.


As a result, Conklin's locked into the low-end starter range at tight end with more upside than usual because of Thielen's injury.

Foster Moreau, Las Vegas Raiders

Admittedly, Foster Moreau fell short of my expectations last week. However, he might have an opportunity to rebound this week. Darren Waller was ruled out on Saturday after missing practice all last week. He was initially deemed week to week last Monday. Thus, his total inactivity last week might indicate that Waller's knee injury will result in a multi-week absence. Put another way, if he were even a limited participant in practice last week, I would be more optimistic about his odds of returning this week.

Moreau was targeted only three times against the Washington Football Team in Waller's stead, resulting in 1 reception for 34 scoreless yards. However, there are some positives once digging deeper. First, according to Pro Football Reference, he played 85 percent of the Las Vegas Raiders' offensive snaps. Second, his three targets were all high-value targets. According to Pro Football Focus, he had a gaudy average depth of target of 19.3 yards downfield. Further, he received a target in the red zone (the 20-yard line, specifically) that likely would have resulted in a touchdown if linebacker Cole Holcomb didn't break it up.

I'll go back to the well this week, projecting him as a fringe starter in 12-team leagues against the Kansas City Chiefs if Waller is out again.

Ricky Seals-Jones, Washington Football Team

Unfortunately, Logan Thomas "likely" tore his ACL and MCL last week. As a result, Ricky Seals-Jones should ascend to the top of the depth chart if he returns from a three-game absence with a hip injury. Fortunately, things seem to be trending in the right direction, with Seals-Jones practicing in a limited fashion all of last week.

As the top tight end for the Washington Football Team in Week 5 through Week 10 (they were on bye in Week 9), among tight ends, he was tied for 16th in receiving yards (192), 13th in targets (28), tied for 10th in receptions (10), and fourth in routes (183). Seals-Jones is a converted receiver, and Washington wasn't shy about moving him around the formation. In Week 5 through Week 10, he aligned wide 28 times, inline 33, and from the slot 135 times.

Sure, RSJ isn't turning heads with efficiency. Nevertheless, his volume is fantasy-friendly. Gamers that need a tight end should scoop up RSJ now and monitor his practice status this week. Fortunately, if he suffers a setback, teammate John Bates offers a last-minute pivot who is on zero percent of Yahoo! rosters.
