3 Fantasy Football Tight End Streamer Options for Week 4
The tight end position isn't overflowing with depth. Instead, it's still top-heavy. So, those of you who kicked the can down the road at the position instead of investing in an elite tight end might dabble in the streamer waters. Some of you came out of drafts with the intention of streaming.
No matter the path to this point, those who need help identifying widely available tight ends to help their fantasy squad each week have found the correct spot. This is your weekly home for streaming options. Here are three choices for this week.
Tyler Conklin, New York Jets
Yahoo! Roster Percentage: 21%
Tyler Conklin is the premier streaming tight end this week. According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), he's remarkably led the position in routes (133) this year. Conklin hasn't just gotten cardio in, either. He has had at least seven targets and four receptions in all three games. "Gronklin" has also had at least 40 receiving yards or scored a touchdown in every game.
The matchup might be good for Conklin this week, too. Last week, the Pittsburgh Steelers were trounced by David Njoku for nine receptions, 89 yards, and one touchdown on 10 targets. Yes, that's only a one-game sample. Still, the New York Jets might have taken notice.
The Jets are expected to get Zach Wilson back this week. It's unclear who Wilson will distribute the ball to in the passing attack. Still, Conklin's route rate has been dreamy. As a result, Conklin should be treated as a low-end TE1.
Albert Okwuegbunam, Denver Broncos
Yahoo! Roster Percentage: 43%
Sadly, Albert Okwuegbunam hasn't lived up to his offseason hype. He had five receptions on six targets for 33 yards in Week 1, and it's been downhill since. He's had precisely two targets in back-to-back games, reeling in only one for 12 scoreless yards. Yuck.
Still, some of the underlying info has been encouraging. Albert O is tied for the second-most routes (76) on the Denver Broncos. He's been moved around like a chess piece, aligning wide 10 times, inline 36, and in the slot 42 times.
Okwuegbunam might have a chance to put his best foot forward in a good matchup this week. According to Pro Football Reference, the Las Vegas Raiders have ceded the sixth-most receiving yards (193) and third-most receptions (20), and the Raiders have tied for the fifth-most touchdowns allowed (two) to tight ends.
Albert O isn't my favorite tight end streamer in Week 4, but he brings enough to the table to make the cut.
Isaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens
Yahoo! Roster Percentage: 5%
Isaiah Likely was a preseason darling. Unfortunately, he hasn't built on the preseason momentum, hauling in just five receptions for 51 scoreless yards as the number-two tight end for the Baltimore Ravens. Still, there are a few encouraging data points in his profile.
First, Baltimore's offense has been highly consolidated with Mark Andrews (32 targets) and Rashod Bateman (16). Then, Likely has tied Devin Duvernay for the team's third-most targets (eight). Thus, there might be a path to relevance if teams can slow down Andrews. Also, Likely has had a meaningful role, relatively speaking.
Out of 41 tight ends targeted at least five times this year, Likely is 18th with 1.21 Yards Per Route Run (Y/RR), per PFF. The rookie has been efficient in his part-time role.
Finally, it should be a fantasy-friendly environment this week. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Ravens are 3.5-point underdogs at home in a game with an over/under of 52.5 points against the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo's secondary will be missing at least Micah Hyde since he's on season-ending Injured Reserve. They might also be without safety Jordan Poyer and cornerbacks Dane Jackson and Christian Benford. In short, the matchup might not be too shabby.
Likely has a low floor. But, then again, the floor for essentially all streaming tight ends is low. There's a compelling case for streaming from a probable shootout.
