Cameron Wake not retiring, in talks with teams for 2020 season
Defensive lineman Cameron Wake is not expected to retire and is engaged in talks with teams about the upcoming season, according to his agent Paul Sheehy.
What It Means:
Sheehy was responding to an earlier report that suggested that Wake was planning to retire. The 5-time pro bowler is entering his 12th season and is free to sign why any team, following his release by the Tennessee Titans earlier in the month. Wake battled through injuries last season, playing 9 games for the Titans.
Wake's raw pass rush production was down across the board last season, due to his injuries. On a per snap basis, he saw an increase in his quarterback hit %, 7.7 to 8.1, and knockdown %, 3.7 to 5.0. His QB hurry, sack, and pressure rates were all down from 2018, but up from his 2016-2017 averages.
