Lions agree to deal with Marvin Jones
The Detroit Lions have agreed to terms with free agent receiver Marvin Jones, ESPN's Dianna Marie Russini reports.
This is why the Lions pushed Calvin Johnson for his retirement decision before the free-agent market opened Monday with the legal tampering period. Jones will slide in as the Lions' new No. 1 receiver and top red-zone option out wide, keeping Golden Tate in a complementary role as a shifty 1B to Jones' 1A. Jones was the top receiver on the market after Alshon Jeffery was franchise-tagged by the Chicago Bears.
Jones has 15 career touchdowns across 43 games. He tied for 36th in Reception Net Expected Points (NEP) per target in 2015. The Lions checked in 14th in Adjusted Offensive Passing NEP per play.
