Panthers plan on Sam Darnold (shoulder) missing 4-6 weeks
Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold (shoulder) is expected to miss 4-6 weeks and will be placed on injured reserve, per head coach Matt Rhule.
Darnold is sidelined with a fractured scapula. P.J. Walker will take over under center for the Panthers, and considering how poorly Darnold has played over the last month, the former XFL star could wind up keeping the job even once Darnold is healthy. The Panthers are playing the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10, so Walker has a tough draw for his second NFL start. Walker tends to air it out (10.6-yard average depth of target) a bit more than Darnold has this year (career-low 7.5 yard ADoT), which should bode well for Robby Anderson and D.J. Moore.
The Cardinals enter Week 10 with the second-best overall defense and pass defense in numberFire's NFL Team Power Rankings. As a rookie last year, Walker scored 12.1 FanDuel points in his only start. He is the QB25 in our Week 10 rankings and projected for 13.9 FanDuel points.
