Cowboys' Dak Prescott (thumb) expected to return to practice ahead of Week 7
Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said that quarterback Dak Prescott (thumb) is expected to return to practice early this week ahead of their Week 7 game against the Detroit Lions.
Prescott hasn't played since injuring his thumb in the opening week of the season. McCarthy didn't technically say whether or not Prescott would immediately take over the starting quarterback job, but it's hard to imagine the team holding him back if he's healthy enough to practice. Backup Cooper Rush helped get the team to a strong 4-2 record in relief of Prescott, but struggled mightily in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Prescott's performance in Week 1 left much to be desired, but the Cowboys' offense as a whole has seemed to be trending in the right direction in the weeks since then. If he does start in Week 7, he'll get to square off against a Lions defense allowing the second-most fantasy points per game (22.9) to opposing quarterbacks this season.
