Rapoport: D.K. Metcalf (knee) unlikely to play for Seahawks Week 8
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf (knee) is not expected to play against the New York Giants on Sunday in Week 8, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Rapoport reiterated that Metcalf should be considered week-to-week for now. The Seahawks have their bye in Week 11, so it's possible they hold Metcalf out until then. Marquise Goodwin is expected to join Tyler Lockett in two-wide sets while Metcalf is sidelined. He played a season-high 38 offensive snaps last week and finished second on the team in targets (5) behind Lockett (8). Goodwin also led the Seahawks with 67 receiving yards and had his first multi-touchdown outing since 2018 when he was a San Francisco 49er. Noah Fant and Will Dissly also stand to benefit from additional targets while Metcalf is unavailable.
numberFire's models project Goodwin for 4.7 targets on Sunday while Lockett is pegged for a game-high 10.3 targets. The Giants are allowing the seventh-most FanDuel points per game to the wide receiver position this season and their pass defense rounds out the bottom-10 of our adjusted team metrics.
