Rams' Matthew Stafford (neck, back, head, elbow) participating in offseason program

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford (neck, back, head, elbow) has been participating in the team's offseason program so far, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

What It Means:

Stafford took an absolute beating in the 2022 season, so it's a relief to see the veteran already up and participating in football activities at this early point of the offseason. He entered last season with a concerning bout of tendonitis in the elbow of his throwing arm and over the course of the year suffered multiple concussions as well as a scary neck/back issue. It looks like he should be close to full health by the start of training camp later this summer.

Stafford struggled in 2022, throwing just 10 touchdowns to 8 interceptions while taking sacks at a painful 8.7% clip, which was somehow the highest sack rate of his career despite the years he spent with the Detroit Lions. His return to form in 2023 could lead to a strong bounce-back year for the Rams, whose 5-12 record last season was the first losing season of Sean McVay's tenure with the team.
