Lions view Jahmyr Gibbs as a "special weapon"

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs is a "special weapon" according to General Manager Brad Holmes.

What It Means:

Speaking about the Lions' offseason additions on The Season with Peter Schrager podcast, Holmes expressed excitement and optimism about Gibbs. Holmes said "he's just so dynamic as a receiver. Look, he's a home run hitter as a running back, that's the easy part. What he does as a receiver -- he runs routes like a receiver." Later, Holmes compared Gibbs' skill set to Marshall Faulk and Christian McCaffrey, adding "So, you start getting reminders of those players (Faulk and McCaffrey). I'm not sitting here saying Jahmyr Gibbs is those players, but (he's) just a special weapon like that." Gibbs is expected to work alongside David Montgomery, who Detroit signed in free agency, in the Lions' backfield as they look to build on their impressive finish to last season.

Gibbs' 2023-24 season projection includes 199.44 carries, 882.81 rushing yards, 7.65 rushing touchdowns, 39.74 receptions, 303.93 receiving yards, and 2.26 receiving touchdowns. He is the RB24 in numberFire's preseason fantasy projections.
