Cole Kmet signs four-year extension with Bears
Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet signed a four-year, $50 million extension on Wednesday.
The deal reportedly includes $32.8 million guaranteed and $20 million in new first-year cash. Kmet led the Bears in targets (69), catches (50), receiving yards (544), and receiving touchdowns (7) last season, but the offense averaged a league-low 22.2 pass attempts per game. Kmet could see increased competition for targets from D.J. Moore and Darnell Mooney this season, but he should be close to an every-down player for the Bears.
Kmet is the TE22 in numberFire's preseason rankings. Our models project him for 64.7 targets, 42.2 receptions, 423.7 yards, and 3.68 touchdowns in 2023. His average depth of target last year was 8.2 yards and he registered 1.27 yards per route run, tied for 18th among tight ends with at least 50 targtes.
