Texans' C.J. Stroud 'competing' for starting job
The Houston Texans' coaching staff wants rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud to win the starting job from teammates Davis Mills and Case Keenum, John McClain of Audacy.com reports.
Stroud said the Texans' coaching staff has been transparent with him, stating plainly that he needs to definitively beat out the competition to earn the top spot as the team's starting quarterback. The second overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft shouldn't have too much trouble surpassing Mills and Keenum, but training camp has only just begun for the Texans overall.
Stroud was extremely productive in his two seasons as Ohio State's starter, tossing 85 touchdowns in that time. He is currently numberFire's QB30 for the 2023 season, but could see his projection improve once he wins the starting job.
