Patriots' Kayshon Boutte chaining together strong practices
New England Patriots wideout Kayshon Boutte has been stacking good practices in training camp over the past week, ESPN's Mike Reiss writes.
Boutte generated possible first-round buzz in NFL draft circle after his first two seasons at LSU, but a down third year and pre-draft process led to the talented wideout slipping all the way to the sixth round. He caught on with the receiver-needy Patriots, though, and after a slow buildup has started to catch some eyes with impressive plays during drills.
Boutte isn't likely to produce immediately for the Pats this season, but could grow into a role as an X receiver for the team (particularly if veteran DeVante Parker misses any time). In Boutte's best collegiate season, he averaged just under 100 yards a game while posting 9 touchdowns in just 6 games.
