Patriots' Mike Gesicki dislocates shoulder
New England Patriots tight end Mike Gesicki suffered a mild dislocated shoulder at practice on Monday, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The Patriots are hopeful that Gesicki will be back for Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles, but his status is uncertain. Gesicki signed a one-year deal in March after he spent the first five years of his career with the Miami Dolphins. He fell out of favor with Mike McDaniel's offense last year in Miami, but the season before, Gesicki set career-bests with 73 catches for 780 yards on 112 targets. Even though Hunter Henry is expected to be first on the Patriots' tight end depth chart this season, Gesicki has the talent and versatility to earn a role in the passing game.
Gesicki is the TE25 in numberFire's preseason rankings. Our models project him for 70.3 targets, 42.5 receptions, 436.2 yards, and 3.04 touchdowns. In the two games Gesicki logged at least 40 offensive snaps last season, he averaged 14.5 FanDuel points and totaled 11 targets, 10 receptions, 110 yards, and 3 touchdowns.
