Josh Dobbs expected to start Week 1 for Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Dobbs is expected to be named the Week 1 starter against the Washington Commanders, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

What It Means:

Dobbs, who was acquired from the Cleveland Browns on August 24, beat out rookie fifth-rounder Clayton Tune for the starting job. According to Rapoport, the Cardinals will evaluate the quarterback situation each week, so Tune could take over if Dobbs struggles. Dobbs made two starts for the Tennessee Titans at the end of last season and completed 40-of-68 pass attempts (58.8%) for 411 yards, with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He also added 44 rushing yards, but lost a pair of fumbles. Dobbs isn't an upgrade for anyone on the Cardinals offense and he should likely only be considered in deep two-quarterback formats.

Dobbs ($6,100) is the QB32 in numberFire's Week 1 rankings and our models project him for 12.8 FanDuel points. Washington is the top D/ST in our projections for the week.
