Giants' Saquon Barkley (ankle) expected to miss three weeks
Adam Schefter reports that New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) is expected to be sidelined for the next three weeks.
Barkley suffered an ankle injury in the final minutes of Sunday's Week 2 win over the Arizona Cardinals and had to be helped to the sidelines. Initial testing appears to have revealed that the star back avoided a significant high ankle sprain, but three weeks could still be an optimistic timeline. Barkley missed four games with a similar injury in 2021 and appeared to need additional time after his return to make it back to full health. Matt Breida and Eric Gray will likely be expected to fill in for Barkley over the next few weeks.
Barkley put the offense on his back to get to the Giants' the win in Week 2, helping quarterback Daniel Jones claw back from a 20-point deficit in the second half. He finished the game with 63 yards on 17 carries and 29 yards off of 6 receptions, scoring twice in the contest. Without Barkley in the offense, the Giants could be extremely vulnerable for opposing D/ST streamers in season-long fantasy.
