Dameon Pierce (ankle) sitting again Thursday for Texans
Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (undisclosed) is not practicing again on Thursday for Week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Pierce is trending toward sitting out Sunday's game after back-to-back missed practices. Devin Singletary will lead the backfield and Mike Boone will be more involved if Pierce is unavailable against the Buccaneers. Pierce barely out-snapped Singletary (25-23) in Week 8 and they both had 12 touches each. After averaging 19.2 opportunities over the first five games, Pierce is only averaging 12.5 opportunities over the last two contests.
Pierce is the RB23 in numberFire's Week 9 rankings and our models project him for 9.7 FanDuel points, with 14.8 carries, 60.3 rushing yards, 1.0 receptions, and 7.4 receiving yards. Singletary is the RB35 and projected for 7.7 FanDuel points on 11.0 touches. The Bucs are allowing the fifth-fewest FanDuel points per game to running backs and their run defense ranks third-best in numberFire's opponent-adjusted NEP model.
