Vance McDonald listed as 49ers' starting tight end
San Francisco 49ers tight end Vance McDonald is listed as the team's starting tight end on their initial depth chart.
McDonald has been rotating first-team reps with Garrett Celek throughout training camp, with Blake Bell as the last of the three. Depth charts at this point of the offseason mean very little, but this seems to confirm other reports that McDonald is having the "best offseason of his career."
McDonald saw plenty of good volume in 2015, but his Reception Net Expected Points per target ranked just 34th among the 44 tight ends with at least 30 targets last year. Our algorithms project him for 35 receptions for 350 yards and 1.56 touchdowns.
