Patriots' Dion Lewis (ACL) may open season on PUP
New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis' second knee surgery will sideline him for 8-10 weeks, the Boston Herald reports.
The procedure is viewed as "relatively minor," but necessary following Lewis' ACL tear last November. He was presumably dealing with loose particles in the knee, and therefore will undergo a cleanup. A source told the Herald that Lewis still "has a good chance of playing in 2016," even if he is likely to open on the season on reserve/PUP.
Prompted by this news, our algorithms have dropped Lewis to 45th in our running back projections. We peg him for a stat-line of 661 all-purpose yards with 3.96 total touchdowns on 101 touches this year, if he can return healthy.
