Ameer Abdullah expects to handle bell cow role for Lions
Detroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah expects to get the majority of carries this season.
"Obviously, all of us wants to get carries," Abdullah said. "I’m hoping and expecting to get the bulk." Abdullah is the clear starter, but is going to lose snaps to Theo Riddick in all passing situations. Zach Zenner and Dwayne Washington aren't expected to cut into Abdullah's short-yardage work.
Our models project Abdullah for 797 rushing yards and 4.21 touchdowns on 183 carries this year, adding a still-solid 34 catches for 232 receiving yards.
