Chargers' Melvin Gordon earns vote of confidence in face of fumbles
San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon will continue as the team's workhorse despite his lost fumbles, head coach Mike McCoy stated on Monday.
Gordon has now given the ball away late in back-to-back losses for the Chargers, and he's struggling to get things going on the ground. The second-year back has managed to salvage his fantasy value with weekly touchdowns, however, and the guaranteed volume should preserve at least low-end RB2 production.
Gordon's -3.78 Rushing Net Expected Points in Week 5 were last on the team, but he dominated the workload out of the backfield with 16 rushing attempts. No other Charger logged more than one carry during the loss to the Oakland Raiders. He finished with 69 rushing yards and found the end zone from 18 yards out on his lone catch.
