Jets name Geno Smith as starting quarterback for Week 7
New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith will be named the starter in Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Ryan Fitzpatrick was abysmal again in Arizona on Monday night, prompting the Jets to replace him with Smith in the fourth quarter. He proceeded to complete 4-of-6 passes for 31 yards and an interception while also fumbling on a sack. Smith won't necessarily be an upgrade, but it's hard to perform any worse than Fitzpatrick has so far this season. Head coach Todd Bowles mentioned Bryce Petty and rookie Christian Hackenberg as potential options later in the year. Stay strong, Jets Nation.
Fitzpatrick ranks 31st in the league in Passing NEP per play among the 32 quarterbacks with at least 75 dropbacks this season. After adjusting for schedule, the Jets rank 26th in Passing Net Expected Points per play.
