Chargers' Melvin Gordon (hip) not expected to play this week
San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon (hip) is not expected to play Week 15 against the Oakland Raiders, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.
There "remains a chance" Gordon could return this season, per Schefter, but Kenneth Farrow and Ronnie Hillman are going to be handling the backfield work against the Oakland Raiders in Week 15. Farrow is an undrafted rookie, but he averaged 5.3 yards per carry in the preseason and many in the metrics community are intrigued by his potential.
Among 40 running backs with at least 80 rushing attempts, Gordon's -0.03 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per attempt ranks 24th. On 36 carries, Farrow has earned -0.07 Rushing NEP per attempt, and Hillman is averaging -0.16 Rushing NEP per attempt on 18 totes.
