Patriots get Kony Ealy, third-round pick from Carolina for second-rounder
The New England Patriots acquired defensive lineman Kony Ealy and a third-round pick from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for a second-round selection.
The Patriots get Ealy, a former second-round pick, by moving down just eight spots in the draft -- if the picks are in 2017. He hasn't done too much besides his standout Super Bowl performance, but Ealy is still just 25.
Ealy recorded 14 sacks in three seasons with the Panthers. He joins a Patriots team that finished 11th in the NFL in schedule-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play in 2016.
