Andre Ellington will play wide receiver for Cardinals in 2017
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said Andre Ellington will move from running back to wide receiver.
Ellington has always been a superior pass-catcher out of the backfield than a runner. With Larry Fitzgerald turning 34 in August and so many health concerns behind him on the depth chart, Ellington could wind up seeing some volume out of the slot.
Ellington earned 0.22 Reception Net Expected Points per target last season (19 targets), which would have ranked eighth-lowest among the 32 running backs to see 40 or more targets in 2016. Among Arizona wide receivers, it would have been fifth.
