Tom Savage labeled Texans' starting quarterback
Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said that quarterback Tom Savage is the team's starter, per the Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson.
While emphasizing that Savage, not rookie Deshaun Watson, is the team's number one, O'Brien said that the 27-year-old has enjoyed a good camp. We probably could've guessed that though given Savage's success in preseason work. The only question is whether or not he will hold that spot through the entirety of the season.
With projections of 2,060.9 yards, 11.8 touchdowns and 127.2 fantasy points, numberFire's algorithms have Savage pegged as the 32nd quarterback overall. However, Watson's projections of 1,429.4 yards, 7.1 touchdowns and 84.8 fantasy points would suggest that he'll get some valuable time behind center this season.
