Deshaun Watson rushes for 67 yards and a touchdown in Texans' win
Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson completed 15-of-24 passes for 125 yards with no touchdowns and zero interceptions while adding 67 yards and a score on the ground in Thursday night's 13-9 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Watson salvaged his fantasy performance with a 49-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter, but he struggled mightily as a passer, taking three sacks that resulted in only 98 net yards passing in his first career start. The first-round pick remains an upgrade over Tom Savage, but he consistently locked onto DeAndre Hopkins and failed to read through his progressions. Things figure to be significantly tougher for Watson and the Texans in Week 3 against the New England Patriots.
Per numberFire Live, Watson finished with -2.78 Net Expected Points in Week 2, meaning a league average quarterback would have scored 2.78 more points than Watson did if put in similar situations. His 17.7 points on FanDuel were slightly more than what our models expected (14.4).
