3 Daily Fantasy Hockey Stacks for 1/6/17
New York Islanders
Players to target: Anders Lee, John Tavares, and Josh Bailey
There are so many things to like about the New York Islanders top line tonight, starting with the matchup against the Colorado Avalanche.
Colorado is on a five-game losing streak and giving up 23 goals in that stretch (4.6 goals allowed per game). They are below average on the power play at a touch under 80% kill rate and also commit 3.9 penalties per game, which is among the league's worst.
The advanced stats agree that the Avalanche are a very poor team, as they rank last at 44.6 scoring adjusted Corsi For %. Semyon Varlamov will not get the start, so the Islanders will get to face Calvin Pickard and his 72.3 High Danger Save %.
Lee, Tavares, and Bailey will all get minutes on the top power play unit and we should see them early and often as the Islanders play their first game of 2017. This trio owns a 60 Corsi For per 60 minutes played, a solid 52.5 Corsi For %, and 13.6 Scoring Chances For per 60 minutes played.
They will see their ice time against Nathan MacKinnon's and Matt Duchene's lines, which are both struggling at even strength. Mackinnon's line at 59.8 Corsi Against per 60 minutes and 12 Scoring Chances Against per 60 minutes and Duchene's line is allowing less scoring chances, but still producing a 66.3 Corsi Against per 60 minutes.
John Tavares should be able to dominate in this game offensively and his line mates should get into the scoring action, as well.
