3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 10/7/19

Victor Olofsson remains criminally under-priced for his role on the Buffalo Sabres. What other value options should we look at on this two-game slate?

If you follow the NHL, you already know all of the top players. Obviously, when playing DFS, these players will come at a high cost. In this article, we are looking to find the cheaper value plays to help you afford the superstars.

Pierre-Luc Dubois, Center, Columbus Blue Jackets

FanDuel Price: $5,000

We have to open up the price range on a two-game slate, but Pierre-Luc Dubois is really cheap considering he plays on the top even-strength line as well as the top power-play unit for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Dubois had a breakout sophomore season last year with 27 goals and 61 real-life points with a solid matchup tonight as Columbus has a 3.07 implied goal total and are -120 favorites — second-best on this two-game slate. Dubois will be centering Cam Atkinson and Gustav Nyquist at even strength and the trio remain intact on the top power-play unit.

The Buffalo Sabres will be rolling out Linus Ullmark this evening, a goaltender who struggled mightily last season with a 3.11 goals-against average (GAA) and a .905 save percentage (SV%).

Victor Olofsson, Winger, Buffalo Sabres

FanDuel Price: $4,100

In eight career NHL games, Victor Olofsson has put up four goals and seven real-life points which is pretty solid for the 24-year-old former 7th round pick. He's playing on the top line with Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart — a line that remains intact on the top power-play unit. They face the aforementioned Blue Jackets team that lost a significant chunk of their roster over the summer.

With Sergei Bobrovsky on the Florida Panthers now, Columbus will rely on Joonas Korpisalo for a good portion of their games and he has struggled. His career 2.90 GAA and .906 SV% are pretty terrible and give the Sabres intriguing upside tonight.

The Sabres 2.93 implied goal total is only slightly lower than the Blue Jackets, making this game an essential coin flip.

Cody Ceci, Defenseman, Toronto Maple Leafs

FanDuel Price: $4,100

This is probably going to be the one and only time you see Cody Ceci recommended here. But, it is a two-game slate and there are not many cheap options out there. Ceci has eight blocks through three games along with four shots and two real-life points. It seems like he could have some interesting upside this season playing with Morgan Rielly at even strength, perhaps fluking into a second-assist from time to time. He blocks a ton of shots and may even fire a few at the net.

Ceci had some offensive potential Junior, putting up just under a point-per-game in his final two seasons in the OHL (60 points in 64 games and 64 points in 69 games). While that has not translated much in the NHL, he has mostly been asked to play the role of a defensive defenseman and perhaps that is where the struggles began. If he is used differently this season on the Toronto Maple Leafs, there may be some interesting upside here.
