5 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 11/1/19
If you follow the NHL, you already know all of the top players. Obviously, when playing DFS, these players will come at a high cost. In this article, we are looking to find the cheaper value plays to help you afford the superstars.
Nico Hischier, Center, New Jersey Devils
FanDuel Price: $4,600
You can call it the second line or you can call it the third line, but Nico Hischier is playing with Pavel Zacha and Jesper Bratt, which is solid. Hischier also plays on the second power-play unit with his entire line from even strength, which gives him and this line some solid upside.
The New Jersey Devils have underwhelmed this season after coming in with plenty of hype. They are scoring just 2.80 goals per game, which ranks 20th in the NHL. However, Hischier provides great value tonight and is our top points-per-dollar center, per our projections.
Josh Anderson, Winger, Columbus Blue Jackets
FanDuel Price: $4,200
Josh Anderson scored 27 goals last year but has missed a chunk of time this season. With just one goal and two points in six games, to say that his start to the season has been disappointing would be an understatement. He is not getting very much power-play time right now, which is also troublesome. In addition, he averaged almost three shots per game last year and is down below two shots per game this season.
However, we're here to talk about why you want to use Anderson. He is our sixth-highest points-per-dollar winger, per our projects, and the third-highest under $5,000. The matchup is tough, but the price is tough to ignore.
Oskar Lindbolm, Winger, Philadelphia Flyers
FanDuel Price: $4,500
On the other side of the aforementioned Devils game is the Philadelphia Flyers. They are a team averaging 34.9 shots per game, the third-most in the NHL. Oskar Lindblom has scored 6 goals in 11 games and has done so on just 25 shots. This 24 percent shooting percentage is not going to continue, but playing on a line with Sean Couturier and Travis Konecny will certainly help him keep it up a bit.
Lindblom also plays on the second power-play unit with both of these guys, and the Flyers' power play has been decent. They are scoring at a 23.8 percent clip, which ranks 10th in the NHL. In addition, the Devils have the 26th-ranked penalty kill, successfully killing off their penalties at just a 73.0 percent rate.
Ryan Pulock, Defense, New York Islanders
FanDuel Price: $3,800
Ryan Pulock plays the point with Nick Leddy on the New York Islanders' second power-play unit, but being on the second unit should not make a huge difference for him tonight. The Islanders have had a fantastic power play this season, converting at a 27.8 percent clip — fourth-best in the NHL.
This special teams matchup is great for the Islanders as the opposing Tampa Bay Lightning have an abysmal 71.1 percent penalty kill that ranks 29th. In addition, the Lightning are allowing 35.8 shots against per game, which is the second-most in the NHL.
Petr Mrazek, Goaltender, Carolina Hurricanes
FanDuel Price: $7,500
In his second season in Carolina, Petr Mrazek has improved a little bit. He is rocking a very good 2.24 goals against average and a .917 save percentage. The Carolina Hurricanes are the largest favorites on the slate at -270 as they host the Detroit Red Wings.
Mrazek is the second-highest points-per-dollar goaltender, as per our projections. He is priced as the ninth-most expensive goaltender and is projected for the fourth-most FanDuel points. This is an elite matchup for a goalie that is far underpriced.
