NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Wednesday 3/11/20
A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion of you have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?
It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel because it's a ton of fun.
Our analysis and projections can help you win. To help, let's take a look at a goalie, some high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.
Goalie to Target
Connor Hellebuyck ($8,800): The Winnipeg Jets project to start Hellebuyck on Wednesday night against the Edmonton Oilers. Hellebuyck won his last three games, allowing just three goals on 93 shots. That translates to 28 or more FanDuel points in each of those games. He is one of the best goaltenders for DFS. The only risk may be Edmonton's lower shot volume of late. Also, make sure Connor McDavid does play. He missed a game earlier in the week due to illness. Corey Crawford ($7,800) is an intriguing start against a San Jose Sharks team just playing out the string.
High-Priced Skaters
Mika Zibanejad ($8,900): His ability to keep scoring is reason alone to play him. Zibanejad now has 40 goals in 56 games, which means he leads the league in goals per game. The center has fired 23 shots on net in this latest five-game point streak. Also, Zibanejad has six blocks in this span, too, which is a bonus. The Colorado Avalanche have been more stingy defensively lately (fewer than 2.4 goals per game allowed at home since January 1st), but there should be opportunities with the high-flying Rangers. Again, see if Connor McDavid ($8,700) plays and if worse comes to worse, look at Leon Draisaitl ($8,600) perhaps. The status of Nathan MacKinnon is also not known at press time.
Patrick Kane ($7,900): Kane has bounced back nicely during the second half with increasing shot and chance outputs. Kane has three-plus shots in six straight games, with at least two scoring chance in each, as well. He has double-digit FanDuel points in four consecutive games. His last game saw his goal streak end, but Kane fired seven shots on net with 10 attempts and five scoring chances. San Jose is a plus matchup, as they yield 3.3 goals per game on the road. At some point, San Jose's defense usually bursts. Kyle Connor ($7,500) could be a good alternative in Edmonton.
Value Skaters
Jayce Hawryluk ($3,200): Hawryluk has produced nice value over the past three contests for the Ottawa Senators. While his shot volume can be erratic, he did have five shots and three scoring chances in his last game against the Anaheim Ducks. He gets middle-six ice time (13 minutes a game) but does get some opportunities on the second line every so often. Samuel Blais ($3,100) is another value possibility from the St. Louis Blues.
Christian Djoos ($3,600): The Ducks' defenseman has been a nice surprise since his trade from the Washington Capitals. He has a couple points in his last three games while averaging two shots a game and blocking a shot a contest. That floor is decent enough given the price. Lately, his minutes load has gone up to 22-plus minutes a night, which is basically a top-four defenseman. His price is cheap enough to take a look. Connor Murphy ($3,700) has a decent floor from the Chicago Blackhawks, too.
