3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 2/16/21

There are five games on Tuesday night. Which values can we trust in NHL DFS?

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal more risk. This is especially true on tonight's slate, where there are lots of lower-salaried plays. Plugging in these options will afford you more chances to play some studs, as well.

Tuesday night has just five games overall on the slate. Let's hunt for values!

Cody Glass, Center, Vegas Golden Knights

FanDuel Salary: $3,500

Center is a difficult position tonight, but Cody Glass offers a bit of good news despite his inherent risk. He averages a little over a shot a game, which can be a problem. However, he does have seven real-world points in nine contests for Vegas. That may be a danger worth taking a chance on.

The biggest risk is that Glass's scoring chances and shots created over the last four games have been less than one per night. He is playing nearly 15 minutes a night in that span, which offers some encouragement. The Glass line should go up against Colorado and their worst lines because Vegas has the luxury of a final line change before faceoffs.

Michael McLeod ($3,000) might be a bottom-six value play on this night, but diminishing returns are expected in the value bracket on this Tuesday night.

Kaapo Kakko, Wing, New York Rangers

FanDuel Salary: $3,800

The New York Rangers forward has endured some bad luck, but he is playing 17-18 minutes a night of late. Kaapo Kakko is a chance magnet along with Alexis Lafreniere. They just are not getting the results -- goals and points. Kakko has 2.33 shots and a block per game over the past three contests. This goes along with nine scoring chances created.

Kakko has learned to battle better in the corners and get off to a better first stride. Those accelerations have led to some extra chances via the transition route. The winger also has better positional awareness on the ice. He does not get caught out of position as often, and the former top-draft pick gets his stick on the ice quickly in the scoring zones.

Jordan Greenway ($4,100) is still enjoying good middle-six opportunities for Minnesota. Their matchup versus the Los Angeles Kings have at least been entertaining and featured a few three-plus goal efforts.

Ty Smith, Defenseman, New Jersey Devils

FanDuel Salary: $3,800

The defensive ideal is to look at lower-salaried players with reasonable matchup potential. Smith has this against the New York Rangers. The New Jersey Devils have not played in over two weeks, but youth is served on one of the youngest teams in the NHL. Smith had eight real-world points in his last nine games before the COVID pause that brought the Devils' season to a halt. Smith generates two-to-three good scoring chances a game.

With these lower salaries, it is important to look at players who are returning. Mathew Dumba ($4,000) will be someone to look at going up against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night. One could go down to Dakota Mermis ($3,500), who makes his season debut and could have a favorable matchup, as well.
