3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 3/19/21
Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal more risk. This is especially true on tonight's slate, where there are lots of lower-salaried plays. Plugging in these options will afford you more chances to play some studs, as well.
Friday night has five games on the slate. Let's take a look at some budget options.
Cody Glass, Center, Vegas Golden Knights
FanDuel Salary: $4,000
The hesitation to roster Phillip Danault forces us to look at top-line Cody Glass on Friday night even in Los Angeles. The risks are plenty as Glass has produced a couple of bagel nights recently. However, in the second game against the San Jose Sharks this week, Glass showed more poise and an ability to find the open spots near the opposing goaltender. He did not overskate but kept his feet moving. These are lessons well learned when playing with top players like Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty.
Los Angeles will give up its share of chances and shots at a rate of nearly 32 shots per 60 at home. Vegas is one of the highest-shooting teams on the road at a touch more than 31 per contest. This is a top-five scoring team at even strength. That is a good thing as the Kings commit the third-fewest amount of penalty minutes at 6.8 per night.
Now, can Glass find the scoresheet again? If he keeps playing with Stone and Pacioretty for around 17 minutes a night, chances are pretty good that he can.
Elsewhere, Filip Chytil ($4,200) has heated up the past couple of contests for the New York Rangers. His speed could cause matchup problems for the Washington Capitals at five-on-five.
Jordan Kyrou, Wing, St. Louis Blues
FanDuel Salary: $3,800
With players returning to the St. Louis Blues' lineup, Jordan Kyrou has fallen through the cracks a bit, but he does have five shots on goal and four scoring chances despite playing middle-six minutes (15 a night) over the past two games.
When two bottom-ranked defenses face each other, it is OK to take some stabs at the game. San Jose and St. Louis have had some high-scoring affairs this season. The Blues are allowing nearly 3.5 goals on the road, and the Sharks still give up 3.52 goals per game (30th overall). Kyrou's speed should create matchup issues for a San Jose defense that turns over the puck often and lets lots of unblocked shots through.
Tyler Motte ($3,400) played 20 minutes on Wednesday night against the Ottawa Senators. The Vancouver Canucks' forward will likely get a few shots on net and block a couple of shots.
Mario Ferraro, Defenseman, San Jose Sharks
FanDuel Salary: $3,800
Defense-wise, Mario Ferraro can be a bit of an adventure. Offensively, the young blueliner is starting to find his spark.
Value options are all over the place on Friday night, and as usual, most carry significant risk. Ferraro has been right around double-digit FanDuel points in each of the past four contests, including a 29.6-FanDuel-point explosion on Wednesday. That included a goal, assist, three shots, and three blocked shots.
Travis Hamonic ($3,800) has a good floor from the Canucks and is taking on the Montreal Canadiens.
