3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 3/26/21
Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal more risk. This is especially true on tonight's slate, where there are lots of lower-salaried plays. Plugging in these options will afford you more chances to play some studs, as well.
Friday night has four games on the schedule. It is time to take a look at some lower-salaried players.
Dylan Gambrell, Center, San Jose Sharks
FanDuel Salary: $3,700
The San Jose Sharks keep trying Dylan Gambrell in their top-six, and in the past several games, the center has shown some progress. He has real-world points in two of his previous three starts, and a crazy thing is this: Gambrell has at least one blocked shot in six consecutive contests.
The risk with Gambrell is the shot count. He does not attempt more than three or four shots a game on the best of nights. So, his floor is fairly low. Gambrell could have a nice matchup against an Arizona Coyotes team that is allowing 31.6 shots per game and nearly 33 shots per 60 over the last 10 home games.
Also, Isac Lundestrom ($3,300) is an exceedingly cheap alternative who is also playing some top-six ice time and is up against an inconsistent St. Louis Blues on Friday night.
Janne Kuokkanen, Wing, New Jersey Devils
FanDuel Salary: $3,700
Janne Kuokkanen has suddenly risen to the top-six and is playing on the top-line most of the time for the New Jersey Devils. He has four assists in his previous three games while generating a few scoring chances here and there.
Again, Andrew Copp has graduated out of the value range at $4,500, but the big risk with Kuokkanen is his shot volume. He has three-plus shots on goal in just two games this season. The Devils are capable of scoring three-plus goals versus the Washington Capitals, and the chances Kuokkanen could assist on a goal is elevated given his three-game assist streak.
On the other side, Daniel Sprong ($3,600) has four real-world points against the New Jersey Devils in three meetings.
Justin Schultz, Defenseman, Washington Capitals
FanDuel Salary: $3,900
Justin Schultz does just enough to get on our value board, and he does have six assists in his previous five games. The only risk is that Schultz plays more limited minutes for Washington at around 19 minutes per night. He averages 1.5 shots per game and a hair less than a blocked shot per contest. Those are the dangers here -- that lower floor.
Value options are out there on Friday night, but there are not many "safer" choices like there were on Wednesday.
Ty Smith ($3,600) is an option from the New Jersey Devils and has three consecutive double-digit FanDuel point efforts. Mario Ferraro ($3,800) has played better of late for San Jose and logged 26-plus minutes on Wednesday versus the Los Angeles Kings.
