3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on Friday 5/7/21

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal more risk. This is especially true on tonight's slate, where there are lots of lower-salaried plays. Plugging in these options will afford you more chances to play some studs, as well.

Friday night has seven contests on the NHL schedule. What values may we find?

Trevor Zegras, Center, Anaheim Ducks

FanDuel Salary: $3,700

It can be a bit of a challenge to find good values on these late-season slates, but Trevor Zegras is one of the better value plays on Friday night. The Anaheim Ducks have come to grips with the idea that Zegras needs to play a little more, and the last four games have seen him play 17-plus minutes in each contest.

He has real-world points in three of his last four games. What a surprise! One of the knocks on Zegras for fantasy was that he does not shoot enough, but the center has 16 shots in this latest four-game run.

Elsewhere at center, Sam Carrick ($3,400) is a higher-risk option -- also from Anaheim -- who could see some increased ice time, as well, on Friday night.

Alexander Barabanov, Wing, San Jose Sharks

FanDuel Salary: $3,600

The youth is running wild! Alexander Barabanov wound up in San Jose, and the early reviews are glowing. He now has three straight games with double-digit FanDuel points and faces an Arizona Coyotes team that allows 3.11 goals per game (3.26 on the road).

With blocked shots in each of the last three games, Barbanov adds value elsewhere to help offset that he does not shoot the puck quite as much. He has three shots in the last three contests but five blocked shots during that time. His speed and acceleration often sets up opportunities for others.

If Mattias Janmark is still playing on the top line for Vegas on Friday night, pencil him in at just $3,500.

Erik Cernak, Defenseman, Tampa Bay Lightning

FanDuel Salary: $3,700

Victor Hedman meet Erik Cernak. Cernak is becoming every bit of the big presence that Hedman is and was.

The matchup here is reasonable as Dallas is just not the same team they were last year -- even with the return of Tyler Seguin. Also, in their last meeting, Cernak had four shots, three blocked shots, a goal, and two assists.

Cernak often has a low floor, but on a slate that is thin on value, he's worth a roll of the dice at this salary.

Jonas Brodin ($3,800) has been in good form lately for Minnesota, and there is always Alex Goligoski at just $3,800 from Arizona.
