3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on Wednesday 10/20/21
Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal more risk. This is especially true on tonight's slate, where there are lots of lower-salaried plays. Plugging in these options will afford you more chances to play some studs, as well.
Wednesday night has a few ways to save even on a short slate. Where can you find some good value plays?
Erik Haula, Center, Boston Bruins
FanDuel Salary: $3,400
Erik Haula is a speedy middle-six forward who will create matchup problems against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night. Haula had an assist and blocked shot Saturday versus Dallas.
Philadelphia may get too preoccupied with Boston's top-six, including Taylor Hall. It may just be this third line that draws lesser defensive pairings. Defensemen like Justin Braun and Rasmus Ristolainen are not so fleet of foot. Haula could be the type of player that one can roster while saving salary.
Haula is only $3,400 and provides the potential for double-digit FanDuel points on Wednesday even if his projection is lower.
Ivan Barbashev, Wing, St. Louis Blues
FanDuel Salary: $3,900
The St. Louis Blues' winger has the shot to drive Robin Lehner and the Vegas Golden Knights nuts tonight.
While Jordan Kyrou has already graduated out of "value range," Ivan Barbashev has real-world points in each of his first two games.
Vegas is projected to allow just 2.74 goals on Wednesday night, but do not be surprised if they give up three or even four goals due to all the injuries. Vegas' concern is the benefit of St. Louis.
Colton Parayko, Defensemen, St. Louis Blues
FanDuel Salary: $4,100
The Blues' defenseman is not always the most prolific offensive player from a DFS standpoint. However, he does have 12 or more FanDuel points in each of his first two contests.
Now, the great news for St. Louis is that Vegas is missing two-thirds of its top lines and several other regulars, as well. This means more unblocked shot attempts can get through for Colton Parayko. That means more point possibilities.
Parayko should see some power-play time, and the Vegas penalty kill is executing at just a 60% rate (third-worst in the NHL).
