3 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on Wednesday 12/29/21

Wednesday night gives us six games. Who can we hit up from the value bin even in this crazy wave of COVID?

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal more risk. This is especially true on tonight's slate where there are lots of lower-salaried plays. Plugging in these options will afford you more chances to play some studs, as well.

Wednesday night brings about six games on the schedule. Let's go!

Dawson Mercer, Center, New Jersey Devils

FanDuel Salary: $4,000

With New Jersey getting healthier, Dawson Mercer becomes a slightly better option on Wednesday in Buffalo.

Mercer had a rough night against the Pittsburgh Penguins before the extended Christmas break, but most Devils players checked out for that game

His minutes are that of a top-six forward, and Mercer should see some power-play time tonight, especially with how woeful it has been on the road (league-worst 5%). With Buffalo allowing 3.47 goals per game, the center is at least worth a look tonight at his salary.

Peyton Krebs, Wing, Buffalo Sabres

FanDuel Salary: $3,000

Peyton Krebs will make his Buffalo Sabres debut tonight against the New Jersey Devils tonight.

Krebs was traded from the Vegas Golden Knights in the Jack Eichel deal. He has top-six upside, but things just did not work out with the young prospect and Pete DeBoer. That does seem like a pattern, but in Rochester of the AHL, Krebs was averaging around a real-world point a game. It may be a bit soon for him to come up, but with a ton of injuries, Krebs is needed.

He can play more than 15 minutes a night but may be eased into the lineup at first. At the very least, Krebs adds some creativity and can be a play against a Devils team that is allowing 3.50 goals a game.

Jamie Oleksiak, Defenseman, Seattle Kraken

FanDuel Salary: $3,600

The Seattle Kraken defenseman is worth a look at near-minimum salary.

This has been a rough year for Jamie Oleksiak as he gets used to playing in Seattle. He has a goal and nine assists in 29 games but does provide a nice floor of nearly four combined shots and blocked shots in the last 10 games.

Philadelphia is one of those teams that can easily allow 35 shots a night and yields the most unblocked shot attempts from defensemen. Seattle averages more than 31 shots a game at home, so Oleksiak may be worth, yes, a shot.
