4 NHL FanDuel Studs to Target on Monday 1/24/22

In NHL DFS, it’s different from paying up in sports like NBA or NFL. Someone can be one of the highest salaried players at his position and put up a total dud of a performance, and paying that much for him would be a huge mistake. Let’s make sure we are paying up in the right spots when building our lineups tonight.
Monday night features seven games on the schedule. Let's take a look at some more studs.
Nathan MacKinnon, Center, Colorado Avalanche
FanDuel Salary: $10,300
The Colorado Avalanche center enjoys a great home matchup versus the Chicago Blackhawks Monday night.
Nathan MacKinnon has rebounded with n9 goals and 33 assists in 29 games. That includes 32 real-world points in his 20 games since December 1st. MacKinnon's shot output returned to seven against Montreal after just one combined during Colorado's "California Trip". He had eight scoring chances on Saturday against the Canadiens, too.
Expect the Blackhawks to allow a high amount of shots and scoring chances. Furthermore, the Avalanche are projected to score 3.45 goals on Monday night.
Colorado is averaging 4.5 goals per game at home. MacKinnon should have his fair share of chances.
Alex Ovechkin, Wing, Washington Capitals
FanDuel Salary: $10,000
Alex Ovechkin may have the motivation to score at least a goal on Monday night at home.
The Washington Capitals' winger still leads the league with 29 goals and 58 real-world points. That includes a league-high 21 power-play goals while averaging 4.58 shots per game. Ovechkin has an enticing matchup at home against the Vegas Golden Knights Monday.
The Russian is currently on a seven-game real-world point streak (five goals, three assists) while generating at least four scoring chances in every one of those games. Ovechkin leads the Monday night slate in FanDuel points per game amongst (21.7).
Vegas allows 3.02 goals per game while ranking 22nd on the penalty kill at 77.5%. That sets up well for a goal scorer who has tallied 72% of his goals via the man advantage.
Devon Toews, Defenseman, Colorado Avalanche
FanDuel Salary: $6,600
The Colorado defenseman just keeps producing at a rate that is almost equivalent to his teammate Cale Makar.
Devon Toews has produced four straight double-digit FanDuel point games which have included a goal, 4 helpers, 13 shots on goal, and 5 blocked shots.
While Toews has already hit his career-high in real-world points in just 28 games. the sky may be the limit this season. He is a league-leading +33 in terms of +/- as well.
The Avalanche allow one to mix and match among their top forward and defensive threats alike. It truly is an embarrassment of riches.
Igor Shesterkin, Goalie, New York Rangers
The New York Rangers goaltender has a high chance to win on Monday night (65% according to our model) against the Los Angeles Kings.
Los Angeles played against the New Jersey Devils on Sunday and won, and though they do not have far to travel (they are staying in Manhattan), the east-coast trip is never an easy one for the west coast teams.
As for Igor Shesterkin, since November 24th, the Rangers goalie has won all but once in his previous 11 decisions. Not only that, Shesterkin has three shutouts in that time as well. He also has 20-plus FanDuel points in every start but one during that same span. He has yielded three goals in each of his previous two home contests, though.
Expect a better effort from the Russian on Monday. The Rangers' goalie is one of the top choices on this seven-game slate.
