3 NHL FanDuel Value Plays to Target on Friday 1/28/22
Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal of risk, too. The right low-salary plays can give you good production while affording you more chances to roster high-salary studs.
Friday night has five games in all. Let's get down into the values!
Charlie Coyle, Center, Boston Bruins
FanDuel Salary: $4,300
Charlie Coyle is gaining some DFS relevance once again with two performances of 20-plus FanDuel points in his last three contests. Coyle is now up to 10 goals and 9 assists on the season in 40 games.
The key in those games was Coyle getting involved early. He had three or more shots in each one, along with multiple scoring chances in the first 20 minutes.
The Arizona Coyotes are an ideal matchup for a Boston team that went toe-to-toe with the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday before losing 4-3 in overtime.
The chance Boston scores three or more goals is quite high. They are projected to score 3.35 goals on Friday night. Coyle should be a nice value option in Boston's middle-six.
Barclay Goodrow, Wing, New York Rangers
FanDuel Salary: $4,200
Barclay Goodrow has been a reasonable value option most of the season from the New York Rangers.
On Henrik Lundqvist Night, it makes sense that there is at least one underrated New York player to roster.
Goodrow plays top-six minutes (20-plus in three straight contests) and has 13 shots on goal with 2 goals in that span.
The winger is averaging 2.5 shots per game during the past eight contests, which is up significantly from his 1.4 average. Also, Goodrow is blocking nearly one shot per game.
Watch the status of Matthew Boldy ($3,500) from the Minnesota Wild taxi squad just in case. However, Goodrow is guaranteed to play, and he plays a lot.
Braden Schneider, Defenseman, New York Rangers
FanDuel Salary: $3,900
With the injury to Adam Fox, the depth chart helps Braden Schneider move up a little on Friday night.
Schneider played a season-high 18-plus minutes on Thursday against Columbus. He responded with two assists, three shots, and a blocked shot despite the New York loss.
The defenseman is not afraid to carry the puck and get the offense going. Schneider must continue to be assertive (three scoring chances) against a Minnesota team that can create some matchup problems.
Salaries are higher on Friday night with the shorter slate again, so Schneider is a bit under-salaried given his increased, albeit temporary, role.
