NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.
Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters. Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com or DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.
Let's jump in to take a look at today's slate and some players to consider for your lineups.
Goalie to Target
Alexandar Georgiev ($8,600): The New York Rangers are -235 home favorites tonight against the Montreal Canadiens, which is a very winnable matchup. The Rangers are locked into the number-two seed in the Metro Division and have nothing to play for. They can't move up, and they can't move down. However, they've lost their last two games and need to regain some form to close out the season.
Georgiev has won each of his last five starts, allowing a total of 12 goals in those five games. Despite being their backup, he's looked sharp in recent outings and should be able to continue that tonight versus Montreal, a team that is scoring 2.57 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations over the last three weeks, which is the 12th-lowest mark in the league.
High-Salaried Skaters
Jason Robertson ($7,100): After winning last time out in a shootout, the Dallas Stars need a single point tonight to clinch a playoff spot. It's really that simple -- pick up a point against the lowly Arizona Coyotes and book a trip to the playoffs. The Stars are at home and are listed as massive -550 favorites. They sport a 4.04 implied total. Considering the Coyotes are allowing 5.23 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations over the past three weeks, the Stars' offense is in a good spot.
We can turn to Roberston, who is on the top forward line and the top power-play unit, giving him a solid floor and high ceiling to reach for. He comes in with 12 NHL points and a very strong 40 shots on goal over his last 10 games. He is in play for any format.
Mika Zibanejad ($7,600): The Rangers are carrying a 3.84 implied total, which is the second-highest on the slate behind only the Stars. As noted above, the Rangers have nothing to play for, but they have lost two games in a row and need to get back in form before the playoffs start. The matchup against the Canadiens is a solid one as Montreal is allowing 4.15 goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations over the past three weeks, the second-most in the league.
Zibanejad has piled up 10 NHL points, 26 shots on goal, and 4 blocked shots over the last 10 games. A multi-point night is always on tap for Zibanejad, who is on both the top forward line and the top power-play unit.
Value Skaters
Paul Stastny ($5,000): The Winnipeg Jets and Philadelphia Flyers could be in for a fun fantasy game tonight since both squads are eliminated from the playoffs and both are in the bottom eight of the league for the most goals allowed per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations over the past three weeks. Hopefully, this makes for a free and open offensive game, which would be great for fantasy production. Stastny has 7 NHL points, 29 shots on goal, and 5 blocked shots over his last 10 games, which is solid production for a player who is only $5,000 -- not to mention the fact he is on both top units for the Jets.
