3 Daily Fantasy NHL Stacks for Thursday 11/10/22
In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside -- if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists, as well.
Ideally, we want players who will get a lot of ice time together on an even-strength line and a power-play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.
10 games on Thursday presents us with plenty of good stacking opportunities.
Vegas Golden Knights
The Vegas Golden Knights have been on a roll. They've won eight games in a row and nine of their last 10. They are seventh in goals per game and have a top line that is worth stacking tonight.
The Golden Knights are getting the Jack Eichel ($7,300) they expected when they made the big trade last year. He has 15 points in 14 games and looks like he is back to being one of the best centers in the league. He's flanked by Mark Stone ($6,400) and Chandler Stephenson ($5,400) on this first line. Both of the wingers have 11 points on the season and have been great since this line was first put together. These three link up on the first power-play unit, as well.
Vegas is still on a long road trip, and they face the Buffalo Sabres tonight. Buffalo has had a lot of ups and downs already this season. Their lowlight was losing 4-1 to the Arizona Coyotes in their last game. Overall, Buffalo has allowed the 12th-most goals per 60 minutes, and the Sabres aren't a matchup that should scare anyone.
The full correlation and easy-to-get-to salaries make this stack very enticing. Alex Pietrangelo ($6,700) is also a piece you can use with these forwards. He will get a lot of ice time, including on the power play.
Colorado Avalanche
The Colorado Avalanche haven't been on a main slate in a while after their trip to Finland. They scored 11 goals in those two games and won both. Now, they are back home and ready to continue dominating on this side of the pond.
Nathan MacKinnon ($10,200) has the best matchup tonight for a player above $10,000 in salary. He has been racking up assists of late, amassing a whopping nine in his last three games. He hasn't stopped shooting, either, as he has at least four shots on goal in his last six games. Mikko Rantanen ($9,600) has scored four goals in his last three games and is tied for the team lead with seven goals. Artturi Lehkonen ($6,300) is playing on the top line and power play with these two stars, and he is a decent value for his salary.
The Avalanche will face the Nashville Predators on Thursday. The Predators have been struggling badly of late, and they have allowed the sixth-most expected goals per 60 minutes this season. They've also allowed five or more goals in four of 13 games played this season.
There are a lot of high-salary players on this slate, but probably none are a better stack than Colorado's first line. They have an implied team total of 3.72 goals and shouldn't face much trouble in trying to beat that total.
New York Islanders
It's rare that we've considered stacking the New York Islanders in the last few seasons. They've been mostly a good team of late, but a lot of it was from defensive hockey. They are scoring more goals with a new coach this season, and they get the dream matchup tonight.
The Islanders signed Mathew Barzal ($5,500) to a long-term contract extension in the offseason, and he has done a decent job justifying it so far. He has 15 assists in 14 games -- but also has no goals. With 38 shots on goal, the puck is bound to bounce his way at some point. He's now playing with Anders Lee ($7,600), the team leader in goals, at even strength and on the power play. Oliver Wahlstrom ($5,800) is also on this line and is a talented young player who could be making a breakthrough.
The second line is a decent option to stack, too. Brock Nelson ($6,800) led the team with 37 goals last season. He has low-salary wingers to stack with him in Kyle Palmieri ($4,300) and Zach Parise ($4,700). Palmieri and Nelson play together on the first power play. You can also add Noah Dobson ($6,300) to any of these stacks, as he is an underrated power-play defenseman.
The reason to target the Islanders tonight is because they face the Arizona Coyotes. Arizona has a better record than some may have thought, but they still rank in the bottom five in nearly every underlying defensive metric.
The Islanders are both in a great spot and provide good value, which is hard to come by on this slate. They have an implied total of 3.68 goals, not too far behind the Avalanche's, but it takes way less salary to stack the Isles.
Others to Consider: New Jersey Devils, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, Columbus Blue Jackets
