FanDuel Soccer: Champions League Daily Fantasy Helper for Tuesday 3/10/20

The Champions League, the best soccer competition on the planet, rolls on, and FanDuel is offering plenty of contests for Tuesday's and Wednesday's knockout stage matches. This article will focus on the main Tuesday slate, which starts at 4 p.m. EST.

Per EPL odds, RB Leipzig (-180) is the slate's biggest favorite, with Atalanta (+135) in second. Tottenham (+480) is the largest underdog on the slate, and they enter Tuesday looking to turn things around following four consecutive losses and a draw to Burnley on Saturday. Valencia (+175) need to overcome a three-goal deficit and will have to do so without the support of their home crowd, as the match will be played behind closed doors due to the coronavirus.

Here are some players to target at various price points.

Forwards/Midfielders

Timo Werner, RB Leipzig ($22) -- Werner is in a bit of a slump, by his standards, with just two goals in his last seven matches, but he's still the top striking option on the board on Tuesday. He scored the only goal in the reverse fixture two and a half weeks ago and has been a goal machine for Leipzig this season, netting 25 times in 32 appearances in the Bundesliga and Champions League. Spurs have gone seven matches in a row without keeping a clean sheet, allowing a combined 12 goals over that span, an average of nearly two goals per game. Tottenham has just four wins in 21 road fixtures this year, while Leipzig has just five losses in 23 home fixtures. This one sets up well for Werner to break out of his slump at home -- he has the best odds to score on the slate, and Leipzig has the highest implied goal total.

Rodrigo Moreno, Valencia ($19) -- On Friday, Moreno returned from a knee injury that had kept him sidelined since February 8th and is in contention to return to the starting lineup on Tuesday. Kevin Gameiro ($15) failed to make an impact with Rodrigo sidelined and should move to the bench if Rodrigo is fully fit. Rodrigo's return would be a much needed boost for a Valencia side that will need to score early and often on Tuesday to make up their three-goal deficit from the first leg. Rodrigo was excellent in the group stages, producing two goals and two assists across five matches and registering an average of 21.38 FanDuel points per game. At a salary of $19, Moreno offers a slight discount from the other primary strikers on the slate despite his position as the lead striker on a home side that needs to chase goals.

Christopher Nkunku, RB Leipzig ($11) -- Nkunku will likely carry high ownership this weekend, as his role in Leipzig's attack is far more valuable than his $11 salary suggests. Nkunku's last three Bundesliga matches have resulted in FanDuel point totals of 26.1, 24.9, and 65.2. He has failed to make an impact in his four Champions League appearances so far, which is likely contributing to his low salary, but he has been an impact player in the Bundesliga for most of the season. In 23 appearances, he has produced 4 goals, 12 assists, 39 shots, and 18 shots on goal. His high assist totals and playmaking abilities make him an excellent option to pair with Werner on Tuesday. Even at high ownership, he's worth including in lineups.

Defenders

Jose Luis Palomino, Atalanta ($13) -- Hans Hateboer ($15) stole the show for defenders in the first leg, with two goals and 50.4 FanDuel points. He may draw some looks again this time around, but Palomino has been the more consistent option. He has double-digit FanDuel points in 12 of his last 13 matches and has only failed to reach double digits four times this entire season across all competitions. His goal-scoring upside is limited -- he has one this season -- but facing a Valencia side that will have to press for goals makes him a solid option for Tuesday's short slate. Considering taking the slight discount over the most expensive defenders on the slate.

Angelino, RB Leipzig ($13) -- Since arriving at Leipzig on loan from Manchester City on transfer deadline day in January, Angelino has made the left mid spot in Leipzig's 3-at-the-back formations his own. He has started six consecutive matches, producing FanDuel point totals of 17.1, 20.5, 16.9, 28.9, 10.4, and 7.3. In the reverse fixture in February, he produced two shots (one on goal), sent in three crosses and created one chance. Tottenham will be forced to chase a goal in this one, which should open up some space for Angelino on the wings, especially working opposite Serge Aurier ($15). Angelino makes a great addition to a Leipzig stack to further take advantage of a good home matchup against a struggling Spurs side.

Goalie

Peter Gulacsi, RB Leipzig ($14) -- Keeper players on Tuesday fall into two buckets -- Gulacsi and everyone else. RB Leipzig's clean sheet odds of 40% are more than double the next closest side. The remaining three teams' clean sheet odds are all within 6% of each other, with Atalanta having the best odds and Tottenham the worst. Gulacsi is the safe play, Tottenham is struggling and Leipzig has kept a clean sheet in five of their last six matches, including on the road against Spurs in the reverse fixture. At a salary of $14, Gulacsi is expensive but well worth paying up for if you covet a high floor. If going with a non-Leipzig keeper, consider taking the most salary relief available of the remaining options with Valencia's Jasper Cillessen ($9).
