4 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays for 4/18/17
Zack Cozart, SS, Cincinnati Reds
FanDuel Price: $3,100
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Is there anything young Cleveland Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor can't do? He continues to impress, and has been a fantasy stud early on in the young 2017 season. He's averaging an impressive 15.26 FanDuel fantasy points per game, and has racked up 9.0-plus FanDuel points in six of his last seven contests.
Lindor is joined by other well known options at the position, like Corey Seager, Asdrubal Cabrera, Aledmys Diaz and Xander Bogaerts.
Cincinnati Reds shortstop Zack Cozart has been known more for his glove than his bat throughout his career -- he's never had an OPS above .770 across a full season and has registered a wRC+ above 91 just once (105 in 2015).
Why You Should Use Him:
Cozart and the Reds face off against the Baltimore Orioles in an interleague matchup and they'll face Kevin Gausman of the Baltimore Orioles.
Gausman has struggled to start 2017, logging a 5.20 SIERA over his first three starts. His strikeout rate has dipped to 15.1%, and for his career, he has struggled against same-sided bats -- righties have logged a .337 wOBA against him.
While Cozart's hard-hit rate against right-handers this year checks in at just 23.1%, he is hitting fly balls 46.2% of the time. In a hitter-friendly venue like Great American Ballpark, he could be an intriguing option to cut some costs in favor of using them in other parts of your roster.
