4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 8/2/17
Eduardo Nunez, 2B, Boston Red Sox
FanDuel Price: $3,700
Eduardo Nunez is sure making Dave Dombrowski look smart these days, wasting no time sparking a Boston Red Sox offense that was in a rut prior to his arrival. In five games, Nunez has put up an absurd .455 isolated power (ISO) and .612 wOBA, slugging 2 dingers, 4 doubles, stealing 2 bags, and knocking in 9 runs. Apparently he likes the new uniform.
But let's not lose sight of the fact that aside from the stolen bases, this is decidedly not the Nunez we've seen the rest of the year. His 50.0% hard-hit rate in a Boston uniform is exactly double the 25.0% rate he posted in 318 plate appearances with the San Francisco Giants this season. He has a career .315 wOBA and 25.7% hard-hit rate.
Playing in Fenway on a contender will undoubtedly boost Nunez's value the rest of the way. If you're going by the numbers, though, this sudden outburst is much more likely to end than continue. Even if you believe in the hot streak, it's a risky proposition at his high price point.
