Dan Straily is having a forgettable 2018 season, posting a 5.11 SIERA, 19.1% strikeout rate, and 12.3% walk rate, along with a 49.6% hard-hit rate and .439 xwOBA allowed. But in spite some of the worst numbers on the board, with the Arizona Diamondbacks playing in pitcher-friendly Marlins Park, they have a middle of the road 4.45 implied team total and might not garner as much ownership as they would otherwise.

And yet, the ballpark may not be able to save Straily given those sorry marks, so we should embrace the opportunity to roster Paul Goldschmidt in this spot. Goldschmidt has come a long way from his early-season slump, producing an absurd 57.1% hard-hit rate, .543 wOBA and .452 ISO this month. While he may not have the platoon advantage, we're talking about a guy with a career 135 wRC+ against right-handed pitching.

Particularly with an expensive Justin Verlander likely to be tonight's most popular pitcher, this could be the rare opportunity to roster a lower-owned Goldschmidt against a weak opponent.
