The return to starter's duties has not gone swimmingly for Mike Minor, whose strikeout and homer rates have trended in the wrong direction after he exchanged his role as an ace reliever with the Kansas City Royals for a spot in the Texas Rangers' rotation.

Sure, a season-long ERA of 4.40 with a pedestrian 14.4% strikeout-minus-walk rate doesn't exactly jump off the page. But he has submitted eight quality starts since the calendar turned to July, and he's set up nicely to record his ninth this week. The rebuilding Twins have been lackluster against lefties in the second half, scraping by on a .292 team on-base clip against southpaws with a .123 group ISO.
