Cheap bats are always tempting, including one that's nearly minimum site priced like Addison Russell is tonight. But a quick peek at his numbers against lefties, as the Chicago Cubs face Robbie Ray tonight, makes him one to avoid.

This year in 121 plate appearances with the platoon advantage, Russell owns a .316 weighted on-base average (wOBA) and .128 isolated power (ISO). Those numbers are poor enough, but a 25.8% hard-hit rate in this split makes things even worse.

Add in Ray's 34.6% strikeout rate in his last five starts and it's easy to pivot away from Russell tonight.
