Leonys Martin will likely bat leadoff tonight against the Toronto Blue Jays, giving him some value even in a righty-versus-righty matchup.

Cheap leadoff hitters can be hard to come by, as they tend to get a boost in plate appearances and scoring opportunities, but Martin's shaky start to 2019 has kept his price down.

He's only got a .408 wOBA and has struck out at a 30.4%, but again that's a small sample. His 2018 numbers weren't anything to write home about either, with a .323 wOBA, but he showed some solid pop last year, with a 37.9% hard-hit rate, 46.1% fly-ball rate and .170 ISO.

He's still making some good contact to open this season, with hard contact on a third of his batted-balls and a 54.5% fly-ball rate, so we can expect the power numbers to start coming. Last year he had a 10.3% home run-to-fly-ball rate (which is about average for most hitters), but he's yet to go yard despite the high fly-ball numbers this year. Those power numbers should pick up moving forward, and that means he's not likely to remain this cheap for long.
