5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Plays for 4/10/19
Brandon Nimmo, OF, New York Mets
Price: $2,600
Another projected lead-off hitter with a low salary tonight, Brandon Nimmo has also had an inefficient opening to the season. His .278 wOBA and 46.3% stirkeout rate are both ugly, but they're also not too concerning over just 41 plate appearances. He's got a 40.0% hard-hit and 6.7% soft-hit rate, so when we consider his career-average .363 wOBA and .184 ISO on 35.8% hard-hit and 17.0% soft-hit rates, we can expect a serious uptick in production.
His high strikeout rate is a concern because it comes with an egregious 18.4% swinging-strike rate, but with his previous career-worst being only 9.5%, even if he sets a new high in that category, it's not likely to stay anywhere near 18%.
He's hitting in a New York Mets lineup that has a reasonable 4.26 implied total, and he should benefit from a matchup with Minnesota Twins righty Jake Odorizzi, who has posted a SIERA worse than 4.50 in each of his last two season.
