Rays' Blake Snell (elbow) looked 'awesome'
Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Blake Snell (elbow) looked "awesome" during a Tuesday bullpen session, per manager Kevin Cash.
Snell had an abbreviated spring training after experiencing soreness in his surgically-repaired left elbow. After winning the American League Cy Young Award with a 1.89 ERA in 2018, Snell was limited to 107 innings last year and posted a career-worst 4.29 ERA. However, the left-hander also recorded personal-bests with a 33.3 strikeout percentage and 3.7 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Cash's comments indicate Snell may be able to return to 2018 form during MLB's planned 60-game season.
numberFire's models project Snell to record a 3.43 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 83 strikeouts and 23 walks over 63 innings this season. He averaged 29.5 FanDuel points per start in 2019.
