NBA Free Agency Preview: 10 Lesser Talked About Names
Danny Green
It may come as a surprise to most NBA fans, but Danny Green (7.2 nERD) finished this season as the 10th best guard in the NBA in terms of nERD. In 28.5 minutes, Green put up 11.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest. Though Green scored just under 12 points per game he did so on 9.1 field goal attempts while shooting 43.6% from the field and 41.8% from three.
Green is nothing if not a super-efficient "3 and D" player -- and to boot, much like the aforementioned Tyson Chandler, he had a career year in various categories. Green earned a career-best Offensive Rating of 114 and a career-best Defensive Rating of 100, altogether for a Net Rating of +14 (naturally, the best of his career). As a result, Green exceed career-highs in all Win Share categories: Win Shares (7.8), Offensive Win Shares (4.0), Defensive Win Shares (3.9) and Win Shares per 48 minutes (.163).
So it follows that the six-year veteran is seeking a deal worth $10 to $12 million per year. It's likely that Green returns to the Spurs, but if he doesn't, Dallas could use some of its cap space to sign a replacement for Monta Ellis.
